Moscova Attic Flat
2011
We were asked to customise this attic flat with few, light interventions and without altering its layout.
The entrance, a dark corridor connecting the dining room and the kitchen, was transformed into a gallery by displaying the client’s art collection along the walls.
The dining room’s partition walls were eliminated, together with the doors separating it from the entrance, thus visually connecting the dining space to the kitchen.
The kitchen is lined in hand-crafted and hand-painted majolica tiles, each individually decorated with different designs.
The iron staircase was painted white, like the living room walls, to lighten its mass. An opening in the wall adjacent to the staircase on the first floor allows the greenhouse’s natural light to reach the living room, symbolically linking the three levels of living space.
